Family Service Kent offers a safe and comfortable environment in which to begin exploring your life choices and circumstances.
The Counselling Program believes in the intrinsic worth, dignity, and creative individuality of every human being as being of primary value, that all people possess the potential and resourcefulness required to independently manage their own lives, and that all clients are capable of change.
The profession of counselling, and thus also the Counselling Program at FSK, affirms that society has an obligation to ensure that all people have access to resources, services, and opportunities they require to promote all aspects of their well being, with particular regard to their psycho-social or financial situation. Fundamental to all intervention with clients is a strict adherence to the Charter of Rights and Freedom and the Human Rights Code which states in the Definition of Discrimination: The Human Rights Code, Section 1 “Every person has a right to equal treatment with respect to services, goods and facilities, without discrimination because of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status or handicap”.
We believe in making you an active participant in your counselling. Alongside you, we help you consider options to resolve problems, increase self-understanding and find meaning in outcomes. Together we establish counselling goals that meet your needs and reflect your expectations. We believe in the inherent capacity of each person to enhance his/her life.
We work with individuals, couples and families.
