Family Service Kent is proud to be a host agency for the following programs:
Chatham-Kent Prosperity Roundtable: Prosperity Roundtable provides tools, information, and opportunities for our entire community to be involved in, and successful at, ending poverty and achieving prosperity for all in Chatham-Kent. Our bold vision is to see a community where poverty is a fading memory, with prosperity for all. Family Service Kent is the backbone organization that hosts the project coordinator for the Prosperity Roundtable, with the Executive Director of Family Service Kent sitting on the Prosperity Roundtable’s Collaborative Leadership Committee.
F.I.R.S.T. Strategy: The F.I.R.S.T. Strategy is a collaborative, integrative approach to bring services directly to families, individuals, and neighborhoods facing situations of acute, elevated risk. The ad hoc nature of the F.I.R.S.T. Strategy is a unique model built by Chatham-Kent with the principals of traditional situation tables. Early intervention is important to reduce the need for more intensive and reactive responses such as hospitalization, arrests, and apprehensions. The process brings only the relevant service agencies together once an agency has identified a situation where multiple services are needed to support the family or individual. This immediate and proactive approach provides delivery of the right service at the right time, directly addressing the risks proactively.
Rebuilding Wheels, Rebuilding Lives: The goal of the Rebuilding Wheels Rebuilding Lives (RWRL) program is to engage high school students to repair donated vehicles for individuals and families living in low income who are struggling to meet their transportation needs. The program provides a one-time gift of a donated used vehicle to an individual or family approximately 3-4 times per year. Family Service Kent has partnered with United Way Chatham-Kent to assist in the selection process.
