Family Service Kent can offer in-office counselling sessions when needed. We are following safety protocols prior to and during in person services to keep staff, clients and our community safe. We will also continue to offer phone and video counselling sessions for those who wish to receive virtual services.

Family Service Kent offers a safe, comfortable, non-judgemental environment to discuss your concerns, clarify what may be helpful, and strengthen your ability to make the desired changes in your life. Our Counsellors

Our staff has extensive training and experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups. Our counsellors come from different backgrounds, education, and experiences, which we hope will enhance their ability to work with a range of clients. At intake, you are assigned to a counsellor who we feel can best meet your needs. You can request a specific counsellor, or a change of counsellor, at any time.

*Please note: Family Service Kent does not employ psychologists or psychiatrists.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is important to us. Counselling sessions are held strictly confidential, and we will not release information without your written consent except to protect life, when ordered by a court of law, or if there are concerns about children’s welfare. Exceptions will be discussed between you and your counsellor prior to your initial session.

Accessing Counselling

It’s simple! You can access counselling services on a self-referral basis by either completing the Counselling Intake Package below, or by calling our intake coordinator at 519.354.6221 ext. 233.

Family Service Kent offers counselling at an affordable, sliding-scale rate. Counselling fees range from $15-$100/hour according to gross family income. We are committed to ensuring that no one is turned away from counselling services due to an inability to pay. A variety of other funding streams may be available (including Employee Assistance Programs, Congregational Assistance Programs, Ontario Works, and ODSP); you will be informed of your options at the time of intake.
