Give the gift of a lift

Imagine not being able to drive to the store when you need groceries or regularly attend your life-sustaining medical appointments regularly. Every day in our community, individuals are lacking the necessary, reliable transportation for these important activities.

Family Service Kent is seeking volunteer drivers from across C-K to help our  Transportation service. Volunteers hold the key to connecting older adults and people with disabilities to their medical appointments, groceries, and day programs.

Perks

Helping others can reduce stress and provide a sense of purpose as well as provide opportunities to meet new people in our community. Volunteer drivers are able to set their own schedules based on their availability. Volunteers can provide as many trips as they like and as often as they wish. Trip assignments average approximately 2-3 hours, depending on the location in Chatham-Kent. Extended trips may also be available to London, Windsor, or Sarnia areas, if the driver is agreeable. Monthly mileage reimbursement is an added benefit to giving back!

Requirements

To volunteer you must be 25+ years old and:

  • agree to a background check
  • have a professional demeanor
  • are a safe driver who enjoys socializing with and helping others
  • have a valid driver’s license & car insurance
  • have your own safe, clean, reliable vehicle
  • have a cell phone, email address and internet access
  • have a minimum to 2-3 hours available to commit to the program

Get behind our community and get behind the wheel! Please consider giving the gift of a lift with Family Service Kent.
